Downloadable eBooks and Audiobooks

These resources for eBooks and Audiobooks are free to Rock Valley Public Library cardholders. Books can be read and listened to on your computer, smartphone, tablet, ereader, or other electronic devices. If you have any questions about getting started, just let us know.

OneClickdigital Audiobooks

One Click Digital

    eBooks are now available! In addition to e-audiobooks, a selection of classic titles are now available from OneClickDigital in ebook/epub format. These are free & always available - no holds, no waiting lists.

    • Recorded books are available for library cardholders. Listen to books from your computer, iPod, Mp3 player, or other portable electronic device.

    • Over 4,000 downloadable audiobooks—including best-selling titles from every major publisher. 

    • Three-week checkouts
    • Multi-access—all titles are always available.

    You will need: 

    1. A valid Rock Valley Public library card
    2. Access to the internet with your own personal computer, smartphone, tablet, or ipod.
    3. One Click Digital software for the device on which you wish to use your audiobook. Apps can be downloaded from iTunes or Google Play. This software is easily downloaded at no cost.

     Bridges eBooks and Audiobooks (formerly known as WILBOR)

    • eBooks and Audiobooks

      Thousands of eBooks (for reading) and audiobooks (for listening) are available for library cardholders. Read or listen to books on your computer, compatible eBook readers, smartphones, or portable audio devices.

    You will need:

    1. A valid Rock Valley Public library card
    2. Access to the internet with your own personal computer, smartphone, tablet, or ipod.
    3. Software for the device on which you wish to use your eBook or audiobook. This software is easily downloaded at no cost.
    • Downloading help

      If this is your first time using Bridges, the best place to start may be the Help link in the upper right corner of the Bridges homepage. There is a "Getting Started" button which walk you through three simple steps. If you would like personal help, you may come in to the library, and one of our staff will be glad to help you. Bring your computer, Kindle, Nook, or other device with you. You must be on the computer which you would like to download the book to.
    • Software required
    • For desktop & laptop computers: you will need to have the free Adobe Digital Editions software downloaded for ebooks. The audiobooks require OverDrive Media Console.
    • For smartphones and iPods, get the Overdrive App from iTunes or Google Play.
    • Loan Periods

      You may check out three books at a time, for a period of 7-14 days, depending on the book. They will automatically "expire" from your device on their due date.

      Project Gutenberg offers over 36,000 free ebooks and audiobooks to download to your PC, Kindle, Nook, Android, iOS or other portable device. Choose between ePub, Kindle, HTML and simple text formats. All ebooks were previously published by bona fide publishers.

    You Will Need:

    1. Access to the internet with your own personal computer, smartphone, tablet, or ipod.
    • Free in US

      These ebooks are free in the United States because their copyright has expired. They may not be free of copyright in other countries. Readers outside of the United States must check the copyright laws of their countries before downloading or redistributing Project Gutenburg ebooks.

    • Loan Period

      You may download as many books as you would like to. Then save them and keep them on your computer or other device indefinitely.
    • Books on CDs and DVDs

      For the most part, the original copyright on these Project Gutenburg materials has expired. This means that most of the books on the discs are at least 80+ years old. You may download one of their CDs or DVDs with thousands of books on one disc, or you may create your own with your own choices of books.
