Bridges

The Bridges service is the result of several Iowa libraries joining together to offer Iowans free access to thousands of ebooks, audiobooks, streaming movies, and full-color magazines from Overdrive. Items are available in English, Spanish, and many other languages.

To use Bridges, you will need:

  1. To be a resident of the city of Rock Valley or rural Sioux County
  2. A valid Rock Valley Public Library card - you will login with the full 14-digit number
  3. Access to the internet and your own computer, smartphone, tablet, or eReader
  4. Software or apps for using eBooks or audiobooks on your device

Getting Started

OverDrive Help offers a Getting Started page to walk you through signing in and accessing the items you want, depending on your device and the format of the items you want.

If you would like personal help, you may come in to the library, and one of our staff will be glad to help you. Bring your computer, smartphone, tablet, Kindle, or other device.

Software required

Kindle eBooks can be read on Kindle devices or with the Kindle app on smartphones and tablets.

eBooks that are in the ePUB format will require you to download & authorize the free Adobe Digital Editions software.

To listen to an audiobook on a desktop or laptop computer, no additional software is required.

For smartphones and tablets, get the Libby app.

Loan Periods

You may check out 5 items at a time, for a period of 7-14 days, depending on the item. They will automatically expire from your device on their due date.

You can reserve up to 10 items at one time. Bridges will notify you when an item becomes available for you to checkout.

If you're not ready to checkout the item that was on hold, you can choose options that bump you down the list a couple of spots, but not all the way to the end of the line.

Magazines are always available and don't count against your checkout limit.

RBdigital was acquired by Overdrive, and all of the selections that we offered through RBdigital will now be added to the selections available through Bridges.
